Accommodation overlooking Făgăraș - Casa Domestic

The best way to follow the route to Valea Sâmbetei, if you don't want to stay on the road for very long, stay a night at the base of the Făgăraș mountains. If you would like to read all the trail guides and see why this trail is worth it, I invite you to visit this link which I hope it will help.
Coming back to the subject of this article: I want to introduce you to the accommodation we chose for one night only, which is about 20 minutes from the start of the trail. We stayed at Casa Domestic, in Viștea de Sus, which we booked through Booking and for which we paid 300lei/night/room at the time (April 2025).
The cottage is set in an extremely private and quiet courtyard. It is full of kitties and itself the accommodation is pet-friendly. Outside is a dining area and barbecue and seating. Inside there are 5 double bedrooms, with double and single beds, a very cozy living room with a fireplace, a huge and super well-furnished kitchen and two bathrooms, one downstairs and one upstairs.
We really liked the good taste the house exuded – it was beautifully furnished and filled with vintage paintings and pictures. Everything is very well integrated here, and each room has its own specific theme (I only photographed 2 of the 5). We especially appreciated the choice of several warm-light lamps instead of a single ceiling chandelier with cold light. A Scandinavian-style detail that made all the difference!
I truly recommend this accommodation – it’s very close to the start of the trail, offers great taste and tranquillity, is worth the money for what it provides, and the surrounding scenery is beautiful, once you get outside the courtyard.
Casa Domestic is a great little home to spend quality time with extended family or several friends. And if you don't necessarily want to go on the trail, don't worry there are plenty of other places you can go: Povestea Calendarului and Castelul de Lut Valea Zânelor, Sibiu or Bâlea Lac, plus many other gorgeous mountain villages.
Let me know what you think and please, leave me in the comments other unique accommodations worth visiting. I'm curious to get to even more of Romania's hidden places.
