Winter weekend glamping: the cozy experience at Glamping Piniale

Have you ever thought about spending a few relaxing days glamping in winter? I know you might think it's too cold for this kind of accommodation, and I thought so too, until I discovered Glamping Piniale. In this article, I want to introduce you to this unique type of glamping in Romania that is worth saving in your list of special accommodations and where you will surely want to return every season.

Bonus: the focus here is on families with children and furry friends!

Glamping Piniale is located in Bughea de Jos, Argeș County, very close to Câmpulung and two and a half hours from Bucharest. You can book directly from Booking or you can call the hosts' phone number and speak to them directly. You can find the number on the Instagramaccount, , where there are lots of photos and videos to convince you for yourself how special this place is.

As we are nature lovers and enjoy spending as much time as possible camping, we decided to try glamping (which stands for Glamorous Camping), and I was amazed when I discovered this new concept. Because it was the middle of winter (January 2026) and I had read that they had heating in every tent, I decided we had to check it out.

The courtyard is very, very large and there are six tents for guests and a much larger tent, as a common area, where meals are served or where you can work remotely because the internet is very good here. Each tent, inside, is decorated in a very boho style, with very simple and neutral accents, very minimalist. The tent also has its own bathroom (yes, you read that right, a private bathroom in a glamping tent) and is heated normally, not with electric radiators (you can set the temperature you want inside using the thermostat in the room).

The space in the tent seemed more than enough to me, and if you have a child, an extra bed can be added. I really liked that it was still decorated for Christmas, which made for a prolonged festive atmosphere. Don't worry about hearing anything from your neighbors because under the tent canvas, there is a kind of wooden box and insulation that keeps the heat inside for so long.

What else did we receive? Two bathrobes, because here you can enjoy a bath in a tub, and I can tell you it's an amazing feeling: sitting in hot water while outside it's freezing and you're surrounded by huge snowdrifts.

As for the large tent, breakfast is served here and is included in the price per night, and you can sit with the other guests. There is always water, coffee, or tea for guests, and there are tons of toys for children. We noticed that pets are allowed here, but it didn't bother us at all because they were super friendly and it was a super intimate atmosphere when we saw happy children playing and animals around them.

There is plenty to do around Câmpulung every day. I would suggest you go to Cabana Voina and climb the Iezer-Păpușa massif if you come here in the summer, because I am sure it is a superb route. But even in winter, we found two places we had wanted to visit for a long time.

The first one is The Beaver House in Râșnov, a visitor center dedicated to the European beaver. It was set up to show how the beaver lives, why it is a key species and how it helps restore natural habitats (waters, wetlands). It emphasizes human-nature coexistence and biodiversity protection. It focuses heavily on interactive videos and photos for children, but even for adults it is a place of great interest for the valuable information it provides.

And the seconde one is The House of the Bison in Lerești, an educational space dedicated to bison. It was created to inform visitors about the reintroduction of bison in the Carpathian Mountains, their protection, and their role in the ecosystem. It explains the history of the disappearance and return of bison in Romania and also has many interactive videos and pictures for children. If you want to see bison, I recommend two nature reserves: the one in Hațeg and the one in Vama Buzăului. This way, you will have the information you need to understand their importance, and then you can visit them.

Both visitor and information centers are part of the association's initiative of the Conservation Carpathia which is working to reintroduce long-lost species and create the largest national park covered by wild forests in the Făgăraș Mountains.

Or if you don't want to leave the glamping site, you can walk on the hills across the road, admire the Iezer-Păpușa massif right from your tent, go sledding on the hill, or simply relax with a cup of tea in your warm tent. Consider it a moment of reconnection, of anchoring yourself in the present and finding peace of mind!

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Glamping Piniale, we rested very well, spent quality time together, admired nature and winter in a more relaxed way than when we usually climb mountains, and found a place that touched our hearts, especially thanks to our hosts, Ioana and Alex, who did everything they could to make us feel super comfortable.

Add Glamping Piniale to your list and I promise you won't regret it. Not to mention that the access road from Câmpulung is excellent and the boss there is actually a super fluffy, purring cat. I think it's the best combination for a weekend dedicated to the soul!
