Casa cu Lavandă – your oasis of peace in the Parâng Mountains!

Let me tell you a little bit aboutCasa cu Lavandă from Petroșani, how we ended up spending a weekend here, whether we liked it, and why you should consider it if you are in the Parâng Mountains area.

We really wanted to go on a few hikes in the Parâng Mountains, but since we live quite far away, a day trip was pretty much impossible. So we decided to spend the two nights of the weekend here and relax in the huge yard of the cottage in the evening after our hike. Compared to Stațiunea Parâng, where the surrounding trails begin, is about a 30-minute drive away. You can stay even closer, right at the base of the slope, if you know you will be spending many hours on the mountain. For us, the cottage was perfectly located, away from the hustle and bustle of the city, close to a supermarket, and surrounded by other households full of cute animals.

For more information about the routes, I invite you to read this article. Now let's focus on the Lavender House and its amenities.

We got our reservation through Booking, and it is actually an old, typical Romanian cottage, refurbished for modern times and turned into a vacation home. Inside, there is a bedroom, a bathroom, and a living room with an electric stove and a mini kitchen. There were four of us, and we managed very well because the sofa in the living room extends. For two people, there is more space and you really have privacy, but a family with one or two children could certainly stay here. What I really liked was that the hosts offered us croissants with jam and a bottle of wine on the house.

Wherever you look, the house has purple motifs because there is an entire field of lavender in the huge yard. Unfortunately, we didn't catch them in bloom at the beginning of June, but July would probably be the right time to see them in their true splendor.

In addition to the rustic and minimalist details in the house, another thing we liked was the very authentic and beautifully arranged porch, perfect for reading a book or sitting on the bench and admiring nature.

Other amenities include a barbecue and outdoor dining area, a campfire spot, and several hammocks hanging from trees in the middle of the garden for ultimate relaxation. We really liked the fact that there are many vintage and refurbished Romanian-style items, which are older and give the place a very traditional feel. Everything is extremely clean and well maintained. We had no problems whatsoever during our stay, we felt great, and we will definitely be back.

It is a place where you come to recharge your batteries, listen to the rooster crowing in the neighborhood, enjoy a lavender-filled garden, eat well, and sleep peacefully, because even though there is a busy street right outside the gate, it is not crowded at all (except perhaps by the neighbors' children). Keep in mind Casa cu Lavandă from Petrosani if you want to hike in Parang Mountains or if you want a more unique getaway or a place to stay on your way to the west of the country. And keep following me for other accommodations in Romania that are worth discovering! 🙂
